Mara Westwood

Mara Westwood

“The West is both a landscape and a performance.”

Mara Westwood is a Texas-born painter who reimagines Western imagery through pop culture, fashion, music, and graphic design.
Cowgirls, cowboys, horses, hats, boots, neon signs, and desert motifs become bold visual symbols in her work. Through flattened shapes, exaggerated proportions, and unexpected color combinations, she places Western subjects somewhere between portraiture, vintage advertising, music culture, and cinema.
Her figures are confident, theatrical, and self-aware. Westwood sees Western identity as something continually reinvented through clothing, gesture, performance, and personal attitude.
